A PRAYER FOR ALL PRIESTS IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES O Jesus I pray for your faithful and fervent priests, for your priests labouring at home and abroad on distant missions fields; for your tempted priests; for your lonely priests and desolate priests; for your young priests; for your dying priests;’ for the souls of your priests who are in Purgatory. Above all I recommend to you the priests dearest to me; the priest who baptised me, the priests who absolved me from my sins; the priests whose Masses I assisted and who gave me your Body and Blood in Holy Communion; The priests who taught and instructed me; the priests who are now offering Mass each day in an empty church, all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way. O Jesus keep them all close to your heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in Eternity. Amen.

OPENING OFTHECHURCH FOR HOLY MASS AND PRIVATE WORSHIP I am delighted to be able to welcome you back to Holy Mass. However, opening for Mass is dependent upon our ability to conform to the guidance and conditions set by the Government on appropriate social distancing, stewarding, cleaning and hygiene protocols. We ask everyone to respect and follow the guidance issued and the instructions in the church At present, the obligation to attend Sunday Mass remains suspended. Please be aware that there is a limit of 25 people who can attend each Mass. A “reservation system” is in place; contact Maggie on (01460) 75714 to book your place at a Mass. Booking is essential as half of the pews are taped off to meet social distancing requirements; once the available seats are filled, anyone who arrives and has not booked will not be admitted. All Masses will be in Chard at present. This week’s masses are listed on Page 1, as well as Adoration on Wednesday and the Holy Rosary on Saturday. Please consider attending any of the weekday Masses, instead of automatically choosing a Sunday Mass. We will continue to offer four sessions when you can come into the church to pray in private, subject to demand. You do not have to book for these sessions, but attendances will be monitored. You will notice some differences in how the celebration takes place. For the time being, there will be no congregational singing and Mass will be shorter than usual. The Church will be regularly cleaned and disinfected and the numbers of people and spacing will be monitored. Those attending should use the hand gel provided and maintain a safe distance from others. We need more volunteers to help steward this programme of Masses and Prayer – please speak to Maggie (01460) 75714 if you are willing to help. Thank you for your co-operation! Fr. Dominic
