WELCOME TO HOLY MASS AT ENGLISH MARTYRS CHURCH, CHARD Important information for those attending Mass in person. Download our weekly Newsletter for full information THE 2020 CHRISTMAS HAMPER DRAW IS LAUNCHING! Tickets for this year’s Draw will be available from 1st November, and the Draw will take place on Saturday 5th December. We are doing things a little differently this year: • To minimise the risk of infection, tickets will be sold by order only. You will need to complete the Order Form below (which is also available in the Church in Chard) and place this in the envelope provided, together with your payment (cash or cheque). The envelope can be put into the box in the Church, or posted to the Parish Office (by hand, or via the Royal Mail). • Your tickets will be emailed or posted to you, according to the option you have ticked. • All prizewinners will be notified by telephone and the prizes will be delivered to you or handed over, by arrangement. In past years we have asked for donations of prizes, but this is not practical at present However, if you would like to contribute to the prize fund, you can donate cash or Gift Vouchers/Cards (eg Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Boots, etc). Please contact Pam Lawrence on (01460) 77176 for further information. The Ticket Order Form can be found in our Newsletter RETIRING COLLECTIONS  Next Weekend there will be a retiring collection for The Priests’ Retirement Fund. This has proved a popular collection with our Parishioners and the difficulty of dealing with this in the restricted environment at Masses is acknowledged. For those attending Mass over the weekend there will be a labelled basket for this purpose. For those who view the on line mass and wish to contribute they can contact Geoff Constable by email: geoffconstable@btnteret.com or 01460 221085 who can give you options for donating. In view of the anticipated shortfall in the level of contributions the Parish will augment this collection and that held recently for World Mission Sunday.
SHOE BOX APPEAL To help at the start of this year’s Shoe Box Appeal, Ingrid and Peter will be handing out ‘empty’ shoe boxes in the car park after the Vigil 5:30pm Mass on the 31st October and the 9:00am and 11:00am Masses on the 1st November. The ‘full’ boxes will be collected after the same masses on the 7th and 8th of November. In these troubled times, your generosity is most appreciated.
PARISH PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES: regrettably, this has been posponed due to ongoing uncertainty about what travel and other restrictions are likely to be in force in 2021. We hope to reschedule this Pilgrimage in 2022. In the meantime, the possibility of a shorter pilgrimage within the borders of the United Kingdom is being explored for next year.
RETIRING COLLECTIONS There will be a Special Collection for The Priest Retirement Fund after Masses on the 31st October and the 1st November. This has proved a popular collection with our Parishioners and the difficulty of dealing with this in the restricted environment at Masses is acknowledged. For those attending Mass over the weekend there will be a labelled basket for this purpose. For those who view the on line mass and wish to contribute they can contact Geoff Constable by E mail geoffconstable@btnternet.com  or 01460 221085 who can give you options for donating. In view of the anticipated shortfall in the level of contributions the Parish will augment this collection and that held recently for World Mission Sunday.
